| Description: | Assist with or administer scheduled medications to residents in accordance with local, state and federal regulations and community policy, under the direction of a licensed nurse. Provide personalized care and services to residents, uphold the community policies and procedures, and ensure the residents, rights to safe, prompt, and confidential treatment. |
| Duties: | Follow the six �rights� of medication administration (right resident, right drug, right dosage, right time, right route, right record/documentation) each and every time assistance with or administration of a medication occurs.
Assist the charge nurses in planning, organizing, and directing the unit's activities; help maintain nursing standards to meet the needs of the residents.
Assist with or administer medications to resident according to their Medication Administration Record (MAR), if no errors are noted, uphold the community�s philosophy, and protect resident privacy.
Document clearly and accurately on the Medication Administration Record (MAR) after a medication is taken/given, refused, held, discontinued, changed, disposed of, returned, following the community policy.
Provide quality care and assistance to residents in accordance with the community philosophy, policy and procedure, and resident rights.
Assist residents in meeting their physical, emotional, spiritual, and medical needs to achieve and maintain their highest level of wellness.
Answer and respond immediately to resident calls.
Control the spread of infection by following standard precautions.
Practice positive resident relations; respond to resident request and direct resident feedback and request to supervisor.
Carry out all duties properly and effectively as assigned by your supervisor.
Check patients frequently to ensure nursing assistants are properly administering resident care.
The facility operates 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. Department schedules must accommodate fluctuating business demands and employees may be asked to work shifts other than those they prefer or normally work.

| Qualifications: | High school diploma/GED is essential; a state QMA certificate and Certified Nurse Assistant certificate are required (or must have applied for transfer of certificates from another state).
Experience in long-term care or a related field is preferred.
Above average knowledge of organization policies, regulations, and procedures to administer patient care.
Average ability to exercise initiative, judgment, and decision-making in meeting clinical objectives.
Above average ability to interact and communicate with a variety of people, both on a one-on-one basis and in meetings and group presentations; must be able to relate to and work with ill, disabled, emotionally upset, and sometimes hostile people; must be able to communicate in a manner understandable by older adults.
Average ability to think logically in order to troubleshoot, analyze situations, and make sound decisions.
Average ability to make independent decisions.
Must be flexible and willing to adjust to changing environments and schedules.
Average ability to write and edit reports and correspondence.
Working knowledge of mathematical principles to make calculations.
Basic understanding of computer applications, including Microsoft Office, e-mail systems, and Internet browsers.
Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
